This hugely popular festivals returns for its second year to introduce many of us to an ingredient not commonly used in our own home cooked dishes. Well that’s all going to change at Clovelly, where you will be amazed at the wonderful world of seaweed.

Clovelly Seaweed Festival promotes seaweed for its immense health & nutritional benefits.  As it is hugely versatile, quay kitchens will have a surprising variety of dishes and stalls will be selling a range of seaweed products and seaweed arts and crafts.

It’s the third year for the Clovelly Seaweed Festival, and you will be surprised at the amount of things you can do with this unusual ingredient. It’s healthy and nutritious and we all should be using it!

The Seaweed Health Foundation have sent experts along to show you exactly what you are missing out on and the vital health benefits associated with seaweed. If you find it all a bit confusing don’t worry, there are going to be lots of chef demonstrations of the variety of meals that seaweed can be included in.

Once you have opened your eyes to the versatility of seaweed, and you are more aware of the minerals and nutrients it contains, you are sure to want to explore it in your own cooking.

The village of Clovelly is truly lovely, take a walk round and you will find street entertainers throughout the day, along with live music along the streets. There is an exhibition of the Marine Biological Association, called “Amazing World of Algae” for you to enjoy.

Children are included too, with their own interactive workshop. They will be able to get involved on the day and have a really good time. And for anyone who likes to get creative, the National Trust will be on hand to demonstrate some craft making sessions.

If you are fortunate enough to live where there is seaweed, the Clovelly Seaweed Festival encourages you to bring your own seaweed and ask the experts you can do with it. No, not throw it back in the sea, you can use this in your cooking, it’s amazing!
